The 2018 brand party presented the coexistence of timeless luxury and paradoxical spaces through the theme of ‘Heterotopia of Manor’.

Seoul Dragon City boasts 1,700 rooms and operates its own branded luxury accommodations – Grand Mercure, Novotel Suites, Ibis, and Ibis Styles.
The brand party was held at the Grand Mercure penthouse. The Grand Mercure penthouse has an elegant skyline view and is beloved by celebrities and VIP clients.
The location was arranged to provide VIP clients with a differentiated and exclusive hotel experience.
Titled ‘Heterotopia of Manor’, the 2018 brand party provided a unique opportunity to gather inspiration from daily serendipities through departure from existing notions.
Crown Goose explores every artistic aspect of the world.
At the 2018 brand party, beauty was found in four artworks.
The work of Ellen Justus is a coexistence of opposing elements. Her work focuses on the unmoving state, melancholia, disagreed by the dynamism of rhythmical lines. In effect drawing a tree of life that is contrary to melancholia. A heterotopia is formed where incompatible spaces converge, and is manifested in this work through an irony created by the coexistence of opposing elements.
Although Song’s work appears to be a two-dimensional drawing at a glance, it is a three-dimensional wire art. It blurs the border between the actual (three-dimensional) and virtual (two-dimensional), and effaces dimensional boundaries. The work does not exist in this world but simultaneously exists through a heterotopian element. It is worth noting that the hotel and manor do not coexist, but appear in a shared space through visible forms that are neither 2D nor 3D. The work not only obscures the dimensional boundary visually, but further creates new perspectives by creating opportunities for intervention–providing alternative cognition and unique experiences to individuals.
A manor is medieval–of an age ruled by a classic beauty, strict form, and discipline. Objet d’art from Lee Soo-jin’s performance represent the modern aristocratic personality of the manor. Although the characteristics of contemporary dance and art objects inherently contradict each other, they coincide with this exhibition space. Discontinued but repeated gestures of Lee express dichotomies of tension and relaxation, contraction and expansion, to reveal a heterotopia where incompatible elements coexist.
